Who we are

At Am Vets Outdoors, we host completely free hunting and fishing events for veterans and active-duty service members throughout Southern Illinois. Whether it's crappie fishing on a Rend Lake at sunrise or chasing whitetails, turkeys, ducks, squirrels, or coyotes—we cover it all. Lodging, meals, gear, and guides are provided at no cost. All you need is a valid license or tag, and a way to get there.

Event announcements are made on our Facebook page, where veterans can sign up for upcoming trips. Participants are chosen at random, giving everyone a fair shot at joining the next outing—whether it’s a duck blind in January or a warm campfire in May. Every event is run with safety, camaraderie, and comfort in mind—no pressure, no expectations, just a chance to reconnect with the outdoors and each other.

But Am Vets Outdoors is more than just a hunting club. We're a family.

Once you’ve come out with us—once you’ve sat around the fire, shared stories, missed a shot, or landed your first fish—you’re part of something bigger. The relationships formed at these events don’t stop when the trip ends. We stay connected, we check in, we support each other long after the gear is packed up. Some call it a weekend escape—we call it a brotherhood and sisterhood that doesn’t clock out.

Am Vets Outdoors was founded by a group of veterans and civilians who believe in giving back through the power of nature, healing, and shared purpose. You don’t have to be a veteran to support us—but if you’ve served, this space is for you.
